One of the most amazing documents in the history of Cave Science is the "Kaemper Map" of Mammoth Cave of 1908. The map, drawn by the German engineer Max Kämper during a eight-month stay in Kentucky, is considered a masterpiece of cave cartography. About 35 miles of subterranean passages are mapped in stunning accuracy.
